White Quantum Syncro Wagon

In May 1993 I became the second owner of a 1985 VW Quantum Syncro Wagon with 62,800 miles.  I sold it in February 2005, with 170,000 miles.

 

Basic specs and options

bulletManufactured June 1985 in Germany.
bulletBought by first owner in Denver in December 1985, for about $17K.
bulletColor: Alpine White.
bulletInterior is black and gray.
bulletSunroof (manual, NO power).
bulletAll manual (NO power): windows, door locks, mirrors.
bulletNO luggage space cover.

 

Major improvements and changes (made)

bulletRims: 7" x 15".
bulletTires: Kumho ECSTA 215/50VR15..
bulletEuro headlights.
bulletBulbs: Hella H4+30 (excellent).
bulletFog lights were converted to turn signals (yellow bulbs).
bulletSteering wheel (brand: Personal), 13" diameter.
bulletLevers (turn signal and wiper) shortened by about 2".
bulletAll windows have tint.
bulletAll emblems on back were painted white.
bulletPlastic strip (above rear license plate) was removed.
bulletVW dealer floor mats, black.
bulletAdded sunroof wind deflector.
bulletReplaced shift boot with leather one (AGLA).
bulletRemoved actuator rod between camshaft and auxiliary vacuum pump.
bulletReplaced rear wiper arm with one from VW Rabbit, to improve wiping of lower right corner of rear glass.
bulletAttached convex lens in right outside mirror (was flat).
bulletYakima roof rack to carry Kayak and/or bikes.
